Awards categories follow below. Winners will be selected across the US, Europe, Asia and Australia. In the event of particularly strong applications from multiple regions, individual awards across any category may be split into more than one award.

  1. Best Software as a Service
    This award will go to the best web-based software. Services with innovative customization, or which solve a universal problem, will be considered favorably.
  2. Best Cloud Infrastructure
    Reliability and scalability are at the core of this award. Applicants must operate a significant portion of their business with their own, custom-built infrastructure to be eligible.
  3. Best Platform as a Service / Cloud Middleware
    Open platforms, development facilities, standalone and application delivery-only environments will all be considered.
  4. Data Innovation of the Year
    Considered innovations will include provision of data-as-a-service, data integration technologies, and use of in-house data such as market data or data intelligence.
  5. Web Services Excellence
    Entrants must demonstrate practical problem-solving across a range of web services. Examples of any possible or existing mash-ups, along with real-life applications, should be given.
  6. B2B Customer Strategy
    Award will be judged on the basis of business to business customer acquisition, fast growth, and an ongoing customer retention strategy.
  7. Security Innovation of the Year
    Awarded for a genuinely innovative approach to cloud security. This may be in the form of a commercial product, or in-house architecture.
  8. Best Cloud Consultancy or Systems Integrator
    A successful track record of success is important for this award; candidates must show evidence not only of expertise in developing a best-fit cloud strategy, but of success.
  9. Best Cloud Payment, Chargeback or Billing Solution
    Successful applicants will demonstrate a leveraging of cloud technologies for scalable, reliable solutions across revenue generation activities.
  10. Best Cloud Business Intelligence or Analytics Solution
    Judges will be looking for solutions which best simplify the end-user’s experience of complex data; case study materials will be useful but not essential.
  11. Best Cloud Hosting Provider
    Candidates should demonstrate a strategic approach to scalability and security, alongside any additional supporting materials.
  12. Most Innovative Use of “Big Data in the Cloud”
    Candidates should demonstrate a solution or approach which has solved structured or unstructured “big data” problems with the use of cloud-based technologies.
  13. Cloud Developer Environment/IDE of the Year
    This award will be given to a remote cloud development platform that can demonstrate real productivity for development, preferably across multiple coding environments.
  14. “Best in Mobile” Cloud Solution
    Powerful cloud solutions compatible with smartphone and tablet devices will be considered, across a range of potential applications.
  15. Best Hybrid Cloud Solution
    Latency, security and reliability in a real-world solution are chief considerations for this award, where a pragmatic approach to cloud services is sought.
  16. Cloud CRM Solution of the Year
    Successful candidates will demonstrate a reliable solution for the management of marketing, sales, and customer care; case study materials are not essential, but may be applicable for this award.
  17. Best Cloud Reseller / Reseller Program
    Judging will include the level of growth in the program, whether realised or projected. Supporting materials from the reseller community also considered.
  18. Best Cloud Automation Solution
    Any solution which simplifies and automates the deployment of cloud computing products and services will be considered.
  19. Developer of the Year
    Award will be judged on the basis of technical expertise and a fresh approach to a problem-solving, combined with entrepreneurial skill.
  20. Most Promising Start-Up
    Start-ups must demonstrate some degree of success or innovation and have been established or incorporated after Jan 1 2012.
  21. Cloud Company of the Year (cannot be entered directly)
    The Cloud Company of the Year 2013 will be selected from entrants of the other categories.

Depending on the strength of applications, individual awards across any category may be split into an award for any one continent, so there are potentially more than 20 awards to enter, as well as the Cloud Company of the Year award. The Cloud Company of the Year 2013 will be selected from entrants of the 20 main categories.
